Reports to Cathy Cepielik

The Risk Solutions Advisor is responsible for servicing the risk management and underwriting needs of personal insurance accounts. The position reports directly to the Risk Solutions Manager.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform desk inspections to validate account information.

  • Gather and analyze data to determine proper insurance to value.

  • Process policy endorsements.

  • Facilitate third party supplier services as necessary that align with risk improvement recommendations.

  • Collaborate with underwriters and agents to deliver exceptional service to policyholders.

This position is based in Scottsdale, AZ with a potential for relocation in the future based on business needs.


JOB SUMMARYWith moderate supervision provides specialized customer service to assigned Personal Lines Insurance accounts across the assigned geographic territory, to ensure proper Insurance to Value, validate compliance with UW requirements and policy credit eligibility and provide policyholder education to help avoid or limit losses.

RELATIONSHIPReports to Manager or Director. No direct reports.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Visits existing or prospective customer locations and evaluates risk based on industry loss control best practices. Discusses home, family, lifestyle and other relevant information necessary to fully understand the account, business and risks. Performs site survey to evaluate risks against industry standards and recommends solutions and services that will support the policyholder in reducing and/or preventing future losses.

  1. With assistance, coordinates coverage for any new exposures uncovered during on site visitations or during direct conversation with the agent through underwriting and account rounding activity with Underwriter.

  2. Creates comprehensive written survey reports and recommendations that address hazards and controls associated with customer's insurance needs and coverage. May also conduct virtual surveys of risks outside assigned territories.

  3. Provides risk assessment and recommendations regarding risk selection to underwriting for evaluation and pricing.

  4. Makes follow up visits and provides loss control services that assist and support customers in meeting their own goals. Recommends loss mitigation services provided by vendors on behalf of policyholders in a manner that demonstrates supervisor customer experience.

  5. Provides basic technical training and consulting to policy holder, underwriting staff, agency force, claims, etc., to help mitigate risks, reinforce standards and practices, educate on issues regarding loss reduction.

  6. May participate in presentations for existing or prospective customers to assist sales, marketing, and agency partners with sales and/or retention efforts.

  7. Assists with developing specialized education programs and training materials regarding such areas as product safety, building design and construction, protection systems, etc., for those persons with operations authority within an account.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation: BS/BA degree in insurance, business administration, economics/finance or engineering preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience preferred with personal lines insurance underwriting, property claims, loss control, building evaluation, residential appraisal or risk management preferred.

Knowledge: Building construction and repair methods, Loss control policies, practices and procedures, insurance coverage and underwriting, claims and related issues.

Skills/ Competencies: Demonstrated relationship, marketing and consulting skills required to interact with underwriting, agents, policy holders, managers and vendors. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to operate a personal computer and other business equipment, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. JOB CONDITIONSOvertime Eligibility: Not Eligible (exempt)

Working Conditions: May require overnight travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record. Must be able to conduct physical surveys. Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, balance on various heights, crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.
