Develops and implements the strategy and direction for the assigned markets within the fuel vertical for Nationwide Agribusiness. Develops and reinforces understanding, communication and execution of the fuel strategy with products, rating, growth, distribution, risk management, and claims.

Has underwriting referral authority, oversight and direction of underwriting appetite through letters of authority and underwriting guidelines. Assesses product needs through market research and develops marketing strategies for fuel business.

JOB SUMMARYProvides management of commercial or personal line product(s) for a line of business. Responsible for developing and recommending underwriting or product policies, procedures and standards. Ensures coordination between home office and field operations. Supports the development and directs the implementation of strategies that support multiple product related profitability objectives. Supports assigned line of business and operations functions.   1. Leads the development of strategy and direction for the assigned product(s). Leads key initiatives to address the product strategy and profitability objectives. Reinforces understanding, communication and execution of product/ underwriting strategy.

  2. Provides technical assistance and support to state/regional underwriting and services leadership. Maintains relationships with new entities, access points and distribution channels that need the support and expertise of product/underwriting staff operations.

  3. Responsible for project management for assigned profitability initiatives. Ensures that each area within the function is following the formal project management process for those projects designated as high priority.

  4. Serves on various committees, project teams and industry boards as assigned.

  5. Responsible for various support functions such as product functional audits, training, vendor selection and management, employee career enhancement, competitive monitoring, systems, and liaison to other business units (systems, services, claims, pricing, distribution, loss control, marketing, etc.)

  6. Proactively identifies market trends, publishing insights, and understanding the market dynamics for the area of responsibility. Includes responsibility for defining KPIs, account segmentation, and identification of key account characteristics that drive performance.

  7. Sets and administers levels of authority for company on assigned line of business.

  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree or post-graduate studies preferred. Relevant professional designation such as CPCU highly desirable. Requires proven knowledge of property/casualty products, insurance company operations, field and staff functions, industry trends, and project management.Experience: Typically ten years property casualty (personal and/or commercial) lines underwriting, including at least five years of management experience. Exposure to both field and staff office operations preferredSkills: Demonstrated decision-making and strategic abilities. Demonstrated ability todrive for results, deal with ambiguity, communicate with upper management, and conceptualize strategic objectives.
